Mom got her "diploma" for comple
tion of 10 rounds of radiation, today. I am not sure we can call it a "banner day"... we are just glad that it's over. She had not had even ONE side effect until today.... and her mouth is sore now, her head itches like crazy and her hair is beginning to come out. Wow. We saw another doctor this morning who encouraged us to make the most of any time we have... we all should be doing that anyway. Duh.
Came home and my high school friend, Gary Lewis - most popular boy in our Sr. class -who has been mom and dad's plumber for YEARS... was here. He installed "grab bars" in mom's shower and installed a new, taller commode for her. I had not seen him in several years and would NOT have known him....anyway... nice reunion.
Rested a little and headed back to the hospital to pick up some meds for mom's sore mouth... they did the trick.... headed over to Vera's hair salon to get Vera to fix mom's wig. Saw Nookie - one of mom's childhood friends in there - she and mom talk all the time on the phone. Good time at Vera's. Mom's wig looks GREAT!
Drove mom to Wendy's for a chocolate frosty, then home. She has answered lots of phone calls this afternoon.... Another day down.
