More than a month ago, Mother was diagnosed with lung cancer which has metastasized to the brain (as the doctor said on Thursday)- 7 tumors on the brain. The lung biopsy that was done on Thursday will tell us sometime this next week what type of cells make up the cancer and they will know better how to treat it. The doc put her in radiation immediately though, saying they should have started 3 weeks earlier (before we went to the beach). We don't know what in the heck that means other than that they had a chance to grow... but they are small, we learned Thursday.
We went to the beach determined to have a ball - and we did. It was hot as an oven down
at Myrtle, but we weathered it well and Mom did EXCEPTIONALLY well. We gals acted like school girls at a pajama party that week... swam, stayed out on the beach one day with mom under an umbrella, for several hours.... we shopped, ate lucious seafood and made great memories. GREAT memories! Carmen drove and took the big Navigator or whatever that car is (luxurious), and I say again... I don't think we have ever laughed so much in our life.
Arrived back home... dropped Mom and Deb off in Winston-Salem around 10:30 on Thurs. morning and Carmen and I headed for Hendersonville. She dropped me off at the house and headed for Knoxville. We were glad to be home by that time!
Charles and I headed for Mother's in Winston-Salem the next Friday after she had seen the doctor and had gone through her first radiation treatment. Deb went back to work on Monday and Charles whent back to Hendersonville on Monday and I stayed and have been here ever since. I just can't be anywhere else right now.
